How to steam milk

Steaming milk for espresso is an art that brings out the creamy texture and rich flavor essential for all milk based coffee beverages.

Begin by pouring cold milk into a chilled pitcher, filling it about a third of the way to allow room for expansion. Submerge the steam wand just below the surface of the milk, creating a gentle hissing sound as it introduces air to form microfoam. Gradually lower the pitcher to maintain the sound while heating the milk to around 65°C. For a perfect finish, swirl the milk to eliminate any bubbles and integrate the foam.

The below video explains everything you need to know, from the steaming technique to alternative milks and tools.
